My Wife Used to Be Afraid of the Dentist

When my wife was a child, she went to an older dentist who had very little patience. She was frightened, and his attitude scared her. He was not gentle with her, and she developed a fear of dentists over this. When we married, she told me she had not been to a dentist in several years. You would never know it because she has such a beautiful smile. I knew she needed to get to a dentist, so I started looking for one. I came across an ad that said to click here for Aurora dentists who help anxious patients change their attitudes about dentistry.

It was as if that ad was made specifically for my wife. She is a logical person who tends to not be afraid of anything. That is why I knew I could approach her with this. Dental technology has come so far in the last 20 years or so, and I knew that her experience today would be a lot different than it was then, even if her old dentist had been the sweetest man on the planet. She knew that she needed to go just to make sure that her teeth really are healthy.

She has the best smile, but decay starts on the inside. She could have a mouthful of cavities and not even know it until the pain comes. Thankfully, she had X-rays done, and they showed no cavities whatsoever. She was so afraid of going to the dentist that she took the best possible care of her teeth, and it was a plan that worked in her favor. However, she does know the benefits of routine exams and cleanings, and she was impressed with the dentist so she is going to go every six months from now on. I also go to him now because of his care and attention to my wife’s anxieties at first!
